Tous les jours devraient être des Journées Mondiales du Théâtre, car au cours des vingt derniers siècles, la flamme du théâtre est toujours restée allumée dans quelque recoin de la terre.

Depuis toujours on annonce la mort du théâtre, surtout depuis l’émergence du cinéma, de la télévision et des nouveaux médias. La technologie a envahi la scène et écrasé la dimension humaine ; on a expérimenté un théâtre visuel, proche d’une peinture en mouvement, qui a repoussé la parole. Il y eut des oeuvres sans parole, ou sans lumière ou encore sans acteur, avec seulement des mannequins et des marionnettes installées sous des jeux de lumière.

    La technologie a essayé de transformer le théâtre en feu d'artifice ou en spectacle de foire.

    Aujourd'hui, nous assistons au retour de l'acteur face au spectateur. Aujourd’hui, nous sommes témoins du retour de la parole sur la scène.

    Le théâtre a renoncé à la communication de masse et a reconnu ses propres limites, que lui imposent la présence de deux êtres face à face qui se communiquent sentiments, émotions, rêves et espoirs. L'art scénique cesse de conter des histoires, pour échanger des idées.

    Le théâtre émeut, illumine, dérange, perturbe, exalte, révèle, provoque, transgresse. C'est une conversation qui est partagée avec la société. Le théâtre est le premier des arts qui se confronte au néant, aux ombres et au silence pour que surgissent la parole, le mouvement, les lumières et la vie.

    Le théâtre est une matière vivante qui se consume en même temps qu’il se crée, mais toujours il renaît de ses cendres. C'est une forme de communication magique dans laquelle chaque personne donne et reçoit quelque chose qui la transforme.

    Le théâtre reflète l'angoisse existentielle de l'homme et perce le mystère de la condition humaine. A travers le théâtre, ce ne sont pas les créateurs qui s’expriment, mais la société contemporaine.

    Le théâtre a des ennemis visibles : l'absence d'éducation artistique pendant l'enfance, qui nous empêche de le découvrir et d’en jouir; la pauvreté qui envahit le monde, éloignant les spectateurs des lieux de spectacles ; l'indifférence et le mépris des gouvernements qui devraient le promouvoir.

    Au théâtre, les dieux et les hommes communiquèrent, mais maintenant l'homme parle aux autres hommes. C'est pourquoi le théâtre doit être plus grand et meilleur que la vie elle-même. Le théâtre est un acte de foi dans la valeur d’une vérité judicieuse dans un monde fou. C'est un acte de foi dans l’humanité, responsable de son propre destin.

    Il faut faire vivre le théâtre pour comprendre ce qui nous arrive, pour transmettre la douleur qui est dans l'air, mais aussi pour entrevoir une lueur d'espoir dans le chaos et le cauchemar quotidiens.   

Vive les officiants du rite théâtral ! Vive le théâtre !

الرسالة الدولية لليوم العالمي للمسرح 2006

 

 

 

 

 

يجب علينا أن نعتبر كل يوم يمر بنا يوماً للمسرحِ العالميِ، لأن شعلة المسرح تأججت في ركن من أركان عالمنا خلال القرون العشرين الماضية.  

لقد تعرض المسرح دائماً إلى خطر الانزواء، وخصوصاً مع بزوغ شمس السينما،  والتلفزيون، والوسائط الرقمية التي ازدهرت بدورها في يومنا هذا. لقد غزت التكنولوجيا خشبة المسرح ودمرت البعد الإنساني فيه، وقامت محاولات لخلق مسرح بلاستيكي، كنوع من التصوير الحركي البديل للكلمة المنطوقة. ومثلت المسرحيات بدون حوار أو إضاءة أو ممثلين، باستخدام الدمى والعرائس التي تدعمها مؤثرات ضوئية متعددة.

 لقد حاولت التكنولوجيا أن تحول المسرح إلى عرض ألعاب نارية، أو استعراض تافه. أما الآن فإننا نشهد عودة الممثلين لمواجهة الجمهور. اليوم، نشهد عودة الكلمات إلى خشبة المسرح.لقد تنازل المسرح عن عرش التواصل الجماهيري وأدرك حدوده الأصيلة، أي المواجهة بين اثنين، يتواصلون بالمشاعر والانفعالات والأحلام والآمال. لقد تخلى الفن المشهدي عن قص الحكاية لصالح مناقشة القضايا والأفكار.إن المسرح يتحرك ويضيء ويزعج ويعكر الصفو ويحرك الروح، ويكشف، ويثير،  وينتهك التقاليد. انه حوار مشترك مع المجتمع. المسرح هو الفن الأول الذي يتحدى الخواء والظلال والصمت، لكي يجعل الكلمات والحركة والأضواء والحياة تتدفق بلا توقف.
المسرح هو كائن حي يحطم نفسه كلما اكتمل بناؤه، لكنه دوماً ينبعث ويتوهج  من الرماد. انه تواصل سحري يأخذ الناس فيه أو يمنحون شيئاً يغير حياتهم. المسرح يعكس الآلام الوجودية للجنس البشري، ويكشف غموض الوضع الإنساني. ليس صناع المسرح  هم من يتكلم من خلاله، وإنما المجتمع في عصره هو الذي يتكلم.للمسرح أعداؤه المعروفين، الافتقار إلى التعليم الفني في الطفولة مما يعوق الاكتشاف والاستمتاع به، والفقر الذي يغزو العالم والذي يُبعد الجمهور عن المسرح، وإهمال الحكومات واستخفافها بالمسرح في الوقت الذي ينبغي عليها أن تشجعه.لقد اعتدنا أن نرى الآلهة والبشر وهم  يتحدثون إلى بعضهم البعض على خشبة المسرح، أما الآن فالبشر يكلمون أنفسهم. ولذلك ينبغي على المسرح أن يكون أسمى وأفضل من الحياة ذاتها. المسرح هو فعل من أفعال الإيمان بقيمة الكلمة التي تنم عن الحكمة في عالم فقد عقله. انه تعبير عن الإيمان بالبشر الذين هم مسؤولون عن مصائرهم.علينا أن نجرب المسرح، لا لكي نفهم ما يحدث لنا ،أو ننقل الألم والمعاناة التي تحيط بنا من كل ناحية فحسب، وإنما لكي نلمح  بصيص الأمل وسط الفوضى والكوابيس التي نعيشها في حياتنا اليومية.

فليحيا المشاركون المقدسون في طقوس المسرح! فليحيا المسرح!

World Theatre Day International Message 2006

 

Every day should be considered a World Theatre Day, because throughout the last 20 centuries, the flame of theatre has always burned steadily in some corner of the world.

    The theatre has always been under threat of extinction, especially with the rise of the cinema, television and now digital media. Technology invaded the stage and annihilated the human dimension and an attempt was made to create a plastic theatre, a sort of painting in movement that replaced the spoken word. Plays were staged without dialogue, without lights or without actors, using only dummies and dolls showcased by multiple lighting effects.

        Technology tried to turn the theatre into a firework display or a fairground sideshow.

        Now we are witnessing the return of actors before audiences. Today, we are seeing the return of words to the stage.

    The theatre has renounced mass communication and recognized its inherent limits ;  two beings facing each other, communicating feelings, emotions, dreams and hopes. Scenic art is relinquishing story-telling in favor of discussing ideas.

    The theatre moves, illuminates, disquiets, disturbs, lifts the spirit, reveals, provokes and violates conventions. It is a conversation shared with society. Theatre is the first art to confront emptiness, shadows and silence to make words, movement, lights and life surge forth.

    Theatre is a living creature that destroys itself as it is created, but always arises from the ashes. It is a magic communication in which all people give and receive something that transforms them.

    The theatre reflects humankind’s existential anguish and unravels the human condition.  It is not its creators who speak through the theatre, but rather the society of the epoch.

    The theatre has visible enemies, the lack of artistic education in childhood that hinders discovering and enjoying it; the poverty that is invading the world, keeping audiences away, and the indifference and neglect of governments that should be  promoting  it.

    Gods and men used to speak to one another on the stage, but now men speak to other men. Therefore, the theatre must be grander and better than life itself. Theatre is an act of faith in the value of a wise word in an insane world. It is a demonstration of faith in human beings who are responsible for their destiny.

    We have to experience the theatre in order to understand what is happening to us, to transmit the pain and suffering that is all around us, but also to glimpse a ray of hope in the chaos and nightmare of our daily lives.

Long live the officiating participants in the rite of theatre! Long live the theatre!
